What is wellness travel?

Updated: Jan 14, 2021

I don’t live near a beach, but I love beach vacations! I love the sound of the ocean. I love looking at that great expanse of amazingly beautiful water crossed by white-topped waves. I love walking in the wet sand on the edge of the lapping water. I love looking for seashells and sea life in that area where the water and land meet.

One spring while walking along the beach, I came across an area where people (or one very diligent person) had stacked round stones atop each other, in row after row, along a stone ledge. Some stacks were tall, others were just 3-4 stones high. Some were covered in a trickle of water that meandered down the side of the cliff, and others were in the bright, dry sunlight. What did I do? I stacked a couple myself (it’s harder than it looks, BTW! Finding rocks flat enough to stack, and a place flat enough to hold them, is no easy task). I also took pictures to preserve the moment and the feeling.

I was absolutely delighted with that sight. Those stones felt like part of me, part of what I love! They represented wellness to me. I am a wellness travel specialist.

Now, don’t let the term “wellness travel” scare you off. What exactly is it?

Wellness travel is maintaining or enhancing your well-being. Isn’t that amazing? It’s all about you, and what makes you a better person. I love it.

So, here are just a few examples of what wellness travel could be:

  • Wellness travel is adventure: hiking, biking, kayaking, exploring, tasting, immersing yourself in your surroundings.

  • Wellness travel is soothing, relaxing, delightful spa treatments.

  • Wellness travel is an amazing culinary experience: both healthy and delicious.

  • Wellness travel is mindfulness, meditation, and yoga.

  • Wellness travel is getting an amazing night’s sleep. (Just have a little daydream for a second about what a perfect night’s sleep feels like—and how incredible you feel the next day! Ahhhhh, yes.)

  • Wellness travel is a total immersive experience at a wellness resort. If this is something you’ve always wanted to try for yourself, don’t put it off any longer. Whether for weight loss purposes, or just to be a healthier you, do it. These places are transformative!

  • Wellness travel is medical travel: traveling to a location to receive a specific treatment or operation.

  • Wellness travel is CONNECTION. With yourself, with the places you travel, and with those you're with. Connection fosters a sense of well-being unlike any other.

Can you relate to any of these? Do you want part of all of your next vacation to include any of the components I’ve just listed? That’s just the tip of the wellness iceberg, because, remember, wellness travel is all about your well-being. That’s what I want to help you achieve.

None of those little stone towers I saw on the beach that day were identical. But the wonderful thing is that they were all balanced, standing tall in the water or the bright sunshine. I want your life to be balanced and well. I want each of us to be our own little tower of stones, feeling the rightness of being well.

Let me know if you’re ready to start planning that vacation for your own balance and wellness!
