If you could vacation right now anywhere in the world, where would you go? It’s an interesting question. Before this past year, we wouldn’t have ever even thought about destinations being closed to us, but that’s our crazy reality. If nothing was closed and money wasn’t an issue, it’s so fun to dream about where I would go.
Let’s talk about somewhere exotic: Bali, Indonesia. I’ve got small group wellness adventure in Bali, a combination of beautiful, awe-inspiring destinations and rejuvenating activities like yoga & meditation, healthy food experiences, amazing accommodations, and extra inclusions like meals, private transportation, and activities.
There are so many great aspects to this trip: although 8 breakfasts and 4 lunches are included in this 9-day getaway, I love that there is plenty of time to experience the food on your own. Food is inexpensive in Bali, and they have a wide range of options, including accommodating those with food allergies or who are vegetarian. Another thing I love is that anyone can go on this trip: singles, couples, families (with kids over 12), and friends. This getaway is perfect for a group leader, a yoga retreat, or those wanting to just explore and relax in this beautiful country.
Let’s find out what this magical journey looks like.
Day 1: Ubud
Arrive at any time. Your arrival transportation from the airport to the hotel is included. This evening meet the rest of your group and learn more about your tour. You can join the group for dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2: Ubud
Start your day with a Hatha yoga session before a healthy breakfast. Today you’ll explore the spiritual side of Bali, with visits to Hindu temples Tirta Empul and Gunung Kawi. Enjoy a buffet lunch together as a group at the Bali Community Training Lunch Program, which assists people living with disabilities in Bali to find independence and meaningful employment.
As an optional activity, you take a break from your afternoon with a yoga session.
Day 3: Ubud
Enjoy an early morning yoga class before a healthy breakfast. Visit an organic farm accompanied by a chef who will explain the ingredients used in Balinese cuisine. Then enjoy a Balinese cooking class: prepare a typical Balinese meal in a traditional Balinese kitchen. Learn various techniques, local herbs and spices, and get to know the equipment.
Afternoon at leisure with an option for a yoga, meditation, a massage, or explore the town by bike or on foot.
Day 4: Pemuteran
After breakfast, depart for Pemuteran in a private vehicle. On the way, visit a typical Balinese house compound and learn about daily life, including how to make offerings, herbal medicine “Boreh,” how the Balinese calendar is built, how to write the Balinese alphabet on a Lontar leaf and how to make coconut oil. Visit with a Balinese Healer called a Balian.
After arrival in Pemuteran, enjoy free time to explore the town.
Day 5: Pemuteran
Enjoy a Balinese Healing Yoga session followed by a healthy breakfast.
Afterwards, drive to the pier for a 30-minute boat ride to Menjangan Island for a day of snorkeling while viewing amazing underwater vistas. After eating lunch on the island, return to hotel with the rest of the day to spend at your leisure.
Day 6: Pemuteran to Sanur
After breakfast, head to Sanur via a private vehicle. Along the way, enjoy multiple stops for sightseeing and local experiences.
The first stop is Munduk, arguably Bali's most beautiful waterfall. After trekking about 300 yards (less than ¼ mile) from the main road through lush green forest, take a refreshing dip in Munduk's pool.
The next stop is a floating temple visit: the captivating Ulun Danu Temple, founded by the King of Mengwi in the 17th century, is one of Bali’s most important and most photographed temples.
Lastly, hop on an electric bike through the rice fields from Jatiluwihkawan to Kintamani. An experienced local guide will share their knowledge about this UNESCO-recognized living monument.
Day 7: Sanur
This morning, enjoy a Hatha yoga session with a second-floor vantage point looking out over the beach, followed by breakfast.
This afternoon, take your choice of optional excursions which include a Balinese dance class or a massage course.
Day 8: Sanur
After breakfast enjoy anti-gravity yoga in a local family’s backyard. This is the perfect spot to achieve a total-body workout by performing a series of exercises inspired by yoga, pilates, calisthenics and aerial acrobatics, while hanging in a silk hammock.
This afternoon, head to the beach where you can relax, or choose from stand-up paddle boarding, running, surfing, cycling or snorkeling.
Day 9: Sanur
This is your departure day. After breakfast, say goodbye to your group and this beautiful location.
The average group size is twelve people, with the maximum size being fifteen.
This 9-day trip is available beginning January 2022. It has scheduled departures every month, so it’s easy to find one that works for you. Scheduling a private version of the trip is also available! You can arrive earlier or stay later, so that this trip can become as flexible as you need.
