Sundance Mountain Resort: A Perfect Wellness Getaway!

Updated: Aug 4, 2022

Listen to this episode on Spotify, Apple or wherever you get your podcasts. We often think that our “big” trips are going to be the most exciting or the best, but sometimes the small getaways can be the most rejuvenating and connecting. This is what my clients Shae and Sam experienced on their recent 3-night anniversary getaway to the Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah.

Shae approached me to help with an idea for their upcoming anniversary a few months ago. They wanted it to be a long weekend, a 3-night wellness getaway in the mountains. I immediately thought of the Sundance Mountain Resort, and it turned out to be just perfect for them.

The Sundance Mountain Resort

The Sundance Mountain Resort was founded in 1969 by Robert Redford, with clusters of rustic yet luxurious cabins surrounding the main resort. The rooms have stone fireplaces, wood finishes, soaking tubs, and organic amenities, and the restaurants use fresh ingredients and local produce.

Once they returned, I took the chance to talk to Shae about their stay, and find out all of the great details. Click here to listen to the podcast, or click here to watch the video recording of our conversation.

The wellness package at Sundance Mountain Resort

The package that I booked for Shae and Sam included one massage per person, breakfast daily, and group wellness classes such as yoga or meditation. Shae and Sam reserved a 90-minute couples massage for their first evening at the resort. Shae said that the massage was one of the best she’s experienced. Sam, worried about his severely broken ankle, was very anxious about the therapist touching anywhere near his ankle, calf, or foot, but she did such an amazing job with the massage that she helped his foot not swell at all for the rest of the evening, which was highly unusual!

Activities at Sundance Mountain Resort

Some of the activities at the Sundance Mountain resort include scenic lift rides, mountain biking, hiking, zip lines, horseback riding, an art studio, and of course, the spa. Because of Sam’s injury they weren’t able to participate in the more “active” activities, but Shae and Sam loved the scenic tram lift rides up to the mountaintop restaurant.

What to eat at Sundance Mountain Resort

Sundance Resort has four food & beverage venues: the Foundry Grill, which is the main eatery at the resort and known for its delicious comfort food; The Tree Room, open for dinner on the weekends and more upscale, fine dining location; the Sundance Deli, which has sandwiches and small bites and treats; and the Owl Bar, a western-style bar with a fun atmosphere. The food at Sundance Mountain Resort was incredible, Shae said. She had two favorite dishes: a delicious appetizer served at the Tree Room (she never found out what it was), and a cheese plate they were served for their anniversary. Everything else was delicious as well.

What they loved most about Sundance Mountain Resort

The things Shae loved most about her stay at the resort were the amazing views from the huge windows in their room, the spa treatments (they booked a second set of massages for the following day, based on their first experience!), and the exceptional and warmly welcoming service that they received from every employee at the resort. And not to be forgotten: the connection and rejuvenation that she and Sam felt on this anniversary getaway.

Let me know if you’d like to book a package at a wellness resort near you! Wellness resorts are my specialty, and I’d love to help you experience one.
